Districts of West PunjabDistricts of Western part of Punjab include the districts like Tarn Taran district, Ferozepur District and Faridkot district. Western part of Punjab is completely associated with its rich history from the early times to the Post Mughal Era. During the period when the famous Indian epic Mahabharata was written, around 800-400 BC, Punjab was known as Trigarta and ruled by Katoch kings. The Indus Valley Civilization spanned much of the Punjab region with cities such as Rupar. The Vedic Civilization spread along the length of the Sarasvati River. The civilization is spanned from Northern part of Punjab to the western part, shaped subsequent cultures in India. Many ancient empires including the Gandhara Dynasty, Nanda Dynasty, Maurya Empire, Sunga Dynasty, Kushana Empire, Gupta Empire, Pala Dynasty, Gurjara-Pratihara Dynasty and Hindu Shahi Dynasty conquered the western part of Punjab region. The furthest eastern extent of Alexander the Great`s exploration was along the Indus River. The agriculture was flourished from ancient times and trading cities such as Jalandhar, Sangrur and Ludhiana grew in wealth from the early times to the modern age.

Tarn Taran District
Tarn Taran district is one of the districts in the Majha region of Punjab in North-West Republic of India. The main cities are Tarn Taran Sahib and Patti. The City of Taran Taran is a holy place for Sikhs. According to the history of Tara Taran District, this district was formed in 2006 from Amritsar District. Captain Amarinder Singh, Ex-Chief Minister of Punjab, made the declaration to this effect during the celebrations marking the martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjan Dev. With this, Tarn Taran district became the 19th district of Punjab. It has three tehsils, which are Patti, Khadur Sahib and Tarn Taran. The District Headquarters is headed by the Deputy Commissioner, along with a Senior Superintendent of Police, the Additional District and Sessions Judge, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Civil Surgeon, district Education Officer, Improvement Trust and a Municipal Council.

Firozpur District
Firozpur district is one of the twenty-two districts in the state of Punjab. Firozpur district comprises an area of 2,048 sq miles. Prior to split of Firozpur district, with the addition of Fazilka district, Firozpur district comprised an area of 11,142 square kilometers, Firozpur is the capital city of the district. Firozpur district is situated inside ten gates like Amritsari Gate, Wansi Gate, Makhu Gate, Zira Gate, Bagdadi Gate, Mori Gate, Delhi Gate, Magjani Gate, Multani Gate and Kasuri Gate.

Faridkot District
Faridkot district is one of the 22 districts in the state of Punjab, with Faridkot city as the district headquarters. Faridkot District was a part of the erstwhile Ferozepur Division but in the year 1996, Faridkot Division was established with a Divisional headquarter at Faridkot which includes Faridkot District, Bathinda District and Mansa district.
