The area of the district is 3660 square km, with a population of 558,831.
Palamau District
Palamau is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state in India. It was formed in 1892. The administrative headquarter of the district is Daltonganj, situated on the Koel River. Palamau District is endowed with a green topography; imperial Sal forests and friendly atmosphere that attract flocks of tourists throughout the year. Palamu Wildlife Santuary, Palamu Fort of Sri Mendin, Betla National Park, Upper Ghaghri Water Falls, Lower Ghaghri water Falls, Lodh Falls, Old Quila and New Quila fort are the hotspots in Palamau. Palamu Tiger Reserve is very rich in biodiversity and various wildlife species in eastern circle of India.
