Districts of northern part of Punjab share the districts like Pathankot district, Gurdaspur district, Amritsar district, Hoshiarpur District and Kapurthala district. Agriculture is the one of the primary industries in Punjab. It is the largest single provider of wheat to India. There are other major industries, which includes the manufacturing of scientific instruments, water meter, electrical goods, financial services, machine tools, textiles, sewing machines, sports goods, starch, tourism, fertilizers, bicycles, garments, and the processing of pine oil and sugar. The northern part of Punjab also has the largest number of steel rolling mill plants.
Pathankot District

Gurdaspur District
Gurdaspur district is a district in the Majha region of the state of Punjab. This is situated in the northwest part of the Republic of India. Gurdaspur is the district headquarters. It internationally borders Narowal District of the Punjab in modern Pakistan, the districts of Amritsar, Pathankot, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur in India acquired Punjab. The two main rivers Beas and Ravi passes through the district. The Mughal emperor Akbar is said to have been enthroned in a garden near Kalanaur, a historically important town in the district. The district is at the foothills of the Himalayan Mountain Range.

Hoshiarpur District
Hoshiarpur District is a district of Punjab state in northern India. Hoshiarpur, one of the oldest districts of Punjab, is located in the Northeast part of the Punjab state and shares common boundaries with Gurdaspur district in the north-west, Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts in south-west, Kangra District and Una district of Himachal Pradesh in the north-east. Hoshiarpur district comprises of four sub-divisions, ten community development blocks, 9 urban local bodies and 1417 villages. The district has an area of 3365 square kilometers and a population of 14, 80, 736 persons as per census 2001.
Kapurthala District
Kapurthala district is a district of Punjab state in northern India. The city of Kapurthala is the district headquarters. The climate of Kapurthala District is moderate. It is hot in summers and cold in winters. It has sub-tropical continental monsoon type climate. Intensive cultivation in the district leaves no scope for forest cover and the wildlife is practically nonexistent.
