Dinacharya in Ayurveda actually means daily routine essential for the maintenance of good and proper health. Vihara in Ayurveda makes recommendations of a proper daily routine or dinacharya along with the seasonal guidelines commonly known as rutucharya. Ayurveda suggests that a simple set of directions help in maximizing the health regardless of the season or any particular vikruti in the composition of the body.

* Waking up early preferably at sunrise is a good habit.
* Next step is to urinate and defecate upon arising.
* Brushing teeth and scraping tongue.
* Drinking a glass of warm water is a healthy practice that should be followed regularly.
* Perform oil massage or better known as `abhyanga`.
* After the oil massage take a warm bath.
* It should be followed by doing various yoga postures like `Yoga Asanas`, alternate nostril breathing known as Pranayama and of course meditation.
* Dinacharya recommends that one should exercise according to one`s prakruti.
* In the winter season, it is advisable to apply ghee or sesame oil to the nostrils before stepping out of the house.
* It is advised in Ayurveda that one should not restrain natural urges of the body such as sneezing, urinating or yawning.
* One should never skip any of the meals of the day.
* Eating fruit along with herbal tea in breakfast is given preference. Eating hot cereal is also advisable.
* One should always engage in activities that bring happiness and joy.
* The meal at noon that is lunch is considered as really important in Ayurveda. So, one should eat this meal in a very quiet and settled atmosphere.
* Never engage in overworking.
* Trying and reducing worrying, overeating and rushing is advisable.
* One should always treat himself/herself lovingly and gently.
* Meditating at the end of the day is advisable after finishing all the day`s hectic activities.
* At dinner, it is preferable to eat a light meal.
* After dinner one should make it a habit to go for a walk.
* Retiring to bed early is recommended as per dinacharya in Ayurveda.
