Early Life Of Didar Singh Sandhu
Didar Sandhu was born to Sardarni Daan Kaur and Sardar Sumand Singh in 3rd July 1942. He was born in the village of Chakk no. 133, Tehsil Silawali of District Sargodha in British Punjab before the Partition of India. In his family he was the youngest of the five brothers. And due to the partition of India, his family moved to Eastern Punjab and also settled in Ludhiana district. As a matter of fact, Didar also served as the Sarpanch of his village Bharowal Khurd near Mullanpur Dakha in Ludhiana district. Didar, in 1966, married to Amarjeet Kaur of village Galib Kalan and couple also had two children. Didar`s son Jagmohan Sandhu is also a famous Punjabi singer.

Rise To Fame Of Didar Singh Sandhu
Didar loved poems and at a very early age he even started to write poetry, during his school days. Didar`s wriiten first song "Jatt Bada Bedardi" was sung by Narinder Biba. In 1962, Didar was employed by Government of Punjab where he met Mohammad. Sadiq (Punjabi Singer) at a theatre company which did Punjabi dramas in early 1960s and both became very good friends.

Career of Didar Singh Sandhu
Didar Singh was a potential duet singer during his times. While he was pursing his singing career, Didar Singh actually sung with many famous contemporary Punjabi female singers of his times. He recorded close to 50 songs with Saneh Lata but after such a time she married overseas and left her singing career.

Didar recorded 13 songs with Kuldeep Kaur, 4 with Parminder Sandhu and Baljit Balli respectively in the 1980s. From 1980-82 periods, Didar recorded about 20 songs with "Punjab Di Koel" (Nightingale of Punjab) - Surinder Kaur. After 1982, he for a long time sung exclusively with Amar Noori. Didar and Amar Noorie performed live in movie Gabhroo Punjab Da (1986). Didar Sandhu, due to excess consumption of alcohol, fell ill and that even caused problem for his lungs and stomach. In 1991, he was admitted to DMC Ludhiana on 13 Feb, where Didar Sandhu died on 16 Feb 1991.
