Ancient Hindu scriptures mention eight types of diamonds. The names can be mentioned as Hanspati, Kamlapati, Vasanti, Vajraneel, Vanaspati, Sbyamvajra, Telia, and Sanloyi.

Colour of Diamond
Diamonds are usually colourless. However, brown, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, red, grey and black variations are also found depending on the impurities present in that gemstone.

There are numerous imitations of diamonds present in the market. The varieties can be mentioned as cubic zirconia, synthetic moissianite, synthetic rutile, strontium titanate, colorless topaz, colorless sapphire, and many others. Scratching glass is useless test as because many imitations that are made of quartz can also scratches glass. A professional or independent retail jeweler can give the idea of a real diamond.

Healing ability of Diamond
Diamond is a great assistance for all brain diseases. It is beneficial in stomach area. Diamonds strengthen the owner`s memory. Diamonds give faith, purity, life, joy, innocence and repentance. It is believed the diamond loses its brilliance with the health of the wearer, regaining it only when the owner recovers. How to use Diamond
The weight of the gemstone should not be less than one Ratti i.e. 121 miligrams. Diamond should be studded in ring consisting 18 carat or 60 % gold. Diamond should be embedded in a gold, silver or punchdhatu i.e. a mixture of five metals, namely iron, silver, copper, gold, and zinc. It should be worn after washing the stone with water and unboiled milk and chanting Mantra `Om Shum Shukraye Namah Om`, it should be worn in the middle finger of the right hand. The wearer should donate white cloth, rice ground sugar and money to a Brahmin. Elephant, white cow or white horse should be fed with fruits. It should be worn on Friday. The best time to wear a diamond is between sunrise and 11:00 A.M.
