Dhanwantara, Indian  sageDhanwantara is a sage, who was produced from the churning of the ocean. Dhanwantara is seen in white and bearing the cup of Amrita in his hand, which was afterwards seized by the Daityas. Dhanwantara is called the physician of the gods.

Dhanwantara became the son of Dirghatamas in his second birth and taught the Ayur Veda or medical science. Dhanwantara was free from human infirmity and master of universal knowledge. The only excising work of Dhanwantara is under the title of Ayur Veda, which he revealed to his student Susruta. Dhanwantara declared that he received it from Brahma.
