Delhi Municipal CorporationDelhi Municipal Corporation or Municipal Corporation of Delhi is among the largest municipal bodies in the world, providing civic services. It provides the services to more 11 million citizens in the capital city of India, covering an area of 1,397.3 sq. kilometres.

The entire Municipal Corporation of Delhi is divided into 12 zones to run the civic life easier. These are Karol Bagh, Sadar Paharganj, West Delhi, Civil Lines, Shahdara South, Shahdara North, Rohini, Narela, Najafgarh and the city of Delhi. According to 2011 census of India, population of Delhi was around 16,753,235. There has been incredible development in transport, education and other facilities offered by the government and other agencies in Delhi. Better roads and a good living standard in Delhi have attracted people from all over India. The recent population of Delhi in 2012 is 20,438,946.

Within the jurisdiction, Delhi is most densely populated areas in the world. It has also the aim of providing civic services to rural and urban villages, resettlement colonies, regularised unauthorised colonies, Slum or Squatter Settlements etc. Municipal Corporation of Delhi engages in e-Governments Foundation to deliver Online Property Tax filing system.

The Online Property tax system got enormous support from the public as it enabled them to file the returns and make the payments from the comfort of their homes. In the very first year, 186 crore was collected through the services of the online property tax system.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi was awarded the best Government Initiative Award for introducing the online system of property tax payment in the urban life of Delhi. The award was given by E-India at the International Conference on Digital Learning, held at the Capital from July 29 to 31. The online property tax system was implemented by e-governments Foundation.
