Deccan Odyssey
Deccan Odyssey is a luxury train in India. It is a special train for the first class tourists who visit the Deccan Mountainous Region of India.

Deccan OdysseyDeccan Odyssey is a special high profile express train, modelled just like Palace on Wheels, which is another leisure train occupying Rajasthan and other royal states of West India. In 2004, the Government of Maharashtra stopped its run of the Deccan Odyssey, citing poor response, but restarted it after the monsoon season in the year 2004. This train is competing with Palace on Wheels of Rajasthan. This train is totally blue in colour. Deccan Odyssey comprises of 21 luxuriously appointed coaches. Out of these 21 coaches, 11 are to accommodate guests and the rest are used for different purposes such as dining, lounge, conference car and health spa.

Inspiration of Deccan Odyssey
Deccan Odyssey is inspired by the Royal carriages used by the Maharajas and Maharanis of the yore for travelling. Each of the coaches of this luxury train, Deccan Odyssey is inspired from a different royal eras of Maharashtra ruled by diverse dynasties from the ancient years to the medieval years. Deccan Odyssey boosts tourism and encourages foreigners to explore the Deccan part of Western India. It wheels on the Konkan railway route of Indian Railways.

Route of Deccan Odyssey
The route starts in Mumbai, Maharashtra and travels to Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik City, Aurangabad, Ajanta-Ellora and then back to Mumbai.

Deccan Odyssey is a venture of the Tourism Department of Maharashtra and the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.

The destinations that touch Deccan Odessey are Jaipur, Kolhapur, Daulatabad, Nasik, Ajanta Caves, Udaipur, Kutch, Mumbai, Goa, Sindhudurg, Tadoba, Agra, Sawai Madhopur, Delhi, Badami, Shirdi, Vadodara, Aihole, Bijapur, Pattadakal, Gir, Nagzira, Hyderabad, Bhavnagar, Modhera, Ahmedabad and Sanchi.

Accommodation of Deccan Odyssey
Being a luxury train, Deccan Odyssey touches all the tourist spots of Maharashtra and rest of the western Indian states. Some of the tourist spots in Deccan Odyssey are Badami, Shirdi, Vadodara, Aihole, Bijapur, Pattadakal, Gir, Nagzira, Hyderabad, Bhavnagar and Modhera.

This aims to be a complete five-star hotel on wheels, with two restaurants and a bar, a sauna, business centre and other such amenities on board. The coaches of Deccan Odyssey are fitted with special amenities that were manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. It has ten fully air-conditioned "Deluxe" cabin saloons, each with combination of four twin bedded chambers and two fully air-conditioned Presidential Suite saloons each with two suites with combination of living room and bed room. The saloons in Deccan Odyssey are equipped with channel music, intercom, player, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, shower, wall-to-wall carpeting and other amenities of this luxury train of West India.

The duration of the tour of Deccan Odyssey is seven nights. It is starting every Wednesday from Mumbai, Maharashtra.
