Daulat Ram College, Patel Marg, New DelhiDaulat Ram College is located within the premises of University of Delhi, 4 Patel Marg, Maurice Nagar, Delhi-110007, India. Daulat Ram College is a foremost educational institution for women in Delhi which was established in 1960 by Late Shri Daulat Ram Gupta, a renowned academician. Although presently it is a constituent college of Delhi University, it began functioning as a "Pramila College". At that time it had only thirteen teachers, 2 office staffs and three hundred and fifty students. It was located at 22 Tilak Marg, Delhi. Later in 1964, the college shifted to its present premises in North Delhi University Campus and was re-named as `Daulat Ram College`. In 1960s, a college building was created which was even extended further for housing the number of students that were increasing day by day. It is one of those handful colleges under Delhi University that has a ramp entry that was broadened furthermore in 2002. A building block is present that constitutes of tutorial rooms, an advanced seminar hall and also class rooms and science laboratories for different departments like Physics, Nutrition & Health Education, Psychology and Biochemistry and so on. A computer laboratory with internet facilities has been integrated in recent times. It has 12 interfaces with connectivity to the Delhi University intra-net, with the internet facility accessible to all the laboratories within the college.

Daulat Ram college has a well-stocked library with more than eighty thousand titles and subscriptions to multiple journals along with a computerised catalogue and access.

So far as study curriculum is concerned, Daulat Ram College houses 19 departments with a total student strength of more than two thousand. It offers undergraduate courses of the Delhi University in various streams like Arts, Sciences and Commerce. Apart from these, 7 of these departments take in students at the postgraduate level for tutorial classes supplementing the lectures of M.A. These classes are held at the Delhi University.

To keep up the standard of quality education, the faculty of Daulat Ram College has highly qualified teachers backed by good experience.

Daulat Ram college has made a mark in the field of academics as well as in sports and various co-curricular activities. Different departments have their Subject Associations, who conduct several educational and co-curricular activities. Societies both at inter class and inter college levels provide enough scope for participation and display their creativity in both academic and co-curricular fields.

Needless to say, the Department of Physical Education is taking a lead role in facilitating sports like gymnastics, table tennis, athletics and many more. Other groups, like interest clubs, the Women`s Development Center, the Eco-club, wings of National Cadet Corps and N.S.S., are present, to formulate the personality and potentiality of the students. In a nutshell, all these activities and excellent academic environment, makes the campus life of Daulat Ram College apt for developing an independent spirit, fellow feeling and intellectual depth. The Student`s Union is very active in this regard. Students go gaga over the celebration of Manjari, the college fest organised by the Student`s Union. Occasional field trips, excursions and out station visits enhance the bond of friendship between students and faculty members of Daulat Ram College. For aspiring young writers, `Pramila`, the college magazine is an ideal platform for all the budding writers, since it offers wonderful scope to express and develop the writing and literary skills under the supervision of the faculty members. `Sadbhavana Bhavan` is the auditorium that has been built inside Daulat Ram College for holding all sports and cultural fiestas. The college always motivates the students to achieve great heights of success and to add to it, numerous prizes are awarded each year, recognising their achievements in the fields that they are interested.

Special mention may be made of The Women`s Development Center of the college which goes beyond mere counselling. It sensitises students about the world happenings and also tries to nurture them as socially responsible citizens. The wings of National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) are active in Daulat Ram College thus arousing social awareness in them.

That the College has woven a worldly and multi-ethnic outlook within itself is apparent from the students who study. In fact educatees come from diversified communities and from various parts of the country as well as from far off places. As the last track record suggests, in the last couple of years, students from foreign countries like Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, U.K., Kenya, Uganda, Mongolia, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, USA, Fiji, Korea, Indonesia, China and Greece have taken admission.

The college is also reputed for housing one of the best hostels for female students amongst all the colleges under Delhi University. It provides accommodation to nearly one hundred and twenty five students. However only the undergraduate students can avail hostel facilities. Its exquisite environment, well-preserved interiors and cosy and comfortable atmosphere makes them feel at home away from home.
