Dahod
Dahod, which harbors the famous Aurangzeb fort, is in the Dahod district of the state of Gujarat.

Dahod is a city as well as a municipality situated in the Dahod district in the state of Gujarat in western India. It is at a distance of 200 kms from Ahmedabad and 150 kms from Vadodara. Another name for the city is "Dohad". The word literally means two boundaries. It is named so as the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh borders the city.

The city of Dahod is home to the famous Aurangzeb fort. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, was born in Dahod in 1618. History recalls that Tatya tope, the well-known freedom fighter, came to this city during the freedom fighting movement. He is believed to have lived his last days in this region.

Dahod town has many educational institutions, namely the Government Engineering College, the Navjivan Science and Commerce College, the Government Polytechnic, the Chhotalal Jadhavji Nutan Prathmik Shala, the M.Y. High School, the R.L. Pandya High School, St.Stephen`s High School, the Burhani School and the Little Flowers School. Recently the foundation stone for a Dental college has been laid in this city by the trust of Girdharlal Sheth, known as the Dahod Anaj Mahajan.

The census records of 2001 states that the town has a population of 79,185. Males amount to 52% of the population and females make up 48%. The average literacy rate of 76% is higher than the national average of 59.5%. The male literacy is 81% while the female literacy is 71 %. The main economic activities of Dahod centers around agricultural products. Agricultural towns like Jhalod, Limadi, Satarampur get a large portion of their supply of agricultural products from Dahod. A large portion of the city has a network of Indian railways.
