Nirmal Verma was born on 3rd April 1929 in Simla. He post graduated in History from Delhi University. Nirmal Verma is very famous in Hindi literature. He is known mainly for his fictional works. He studied Czech at the Oriental Institute in Prague, and has been a Fellow with the International Institute for Asian Studies. Nirmal Verma is the owner of India`s highest literary award i.e. the Jnanpith award. He also won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1985 for his short stories Kavve aura kala pani. Some of his more popular novels are Antima aranya, Rata ka riportara, Eka citaraha sukha, and Lala tina ki chata.
All the novels of Verma were rich in symbolism with a style that is simple yet sophisticated. As one of the most important prose Hindi writers of our times, Nirmal Verma`s creativity extends to the description and travel to places in Europe especially on Czechoslovakia and literary criticism. The Library of Congress has acquired all of his short stories and most of his novels and prose writings. Till date Verma has published five novels, eight collections of short stories and nine books of essays and travelogues. His books have been translated into several European languages such as English, Russian, German, Icelandic, Polish, Italian and French.

`Crows of Deliverance` by the writer Nirmal Verma is actually a collection of six stories. All of these were originally published in Hindi. These are remarkable for their range, yet uneven in their quality. There are some stories that truly depict the tale of life. Out of the stories there were `Amalya` that tells of two men turned out of their basement apartment by a roommate bringing back a one-night stand on the coldest of nights. It portrays the anger towards their friend becomes interested in the girl. In another story titled `The Visitor` there is an estranged father surprises his daughter with a stopover while in London and she is forced to play mediator between him and his former wife. In the last story `Deliverance` the author writes it more powerfully. It combines a traditional narrative with a spiritual study of a man seeking his brother who years earlier had become a reclusive `holy man.` There are other three stories namely `The Gossamer`, `Last Summer`, and `The Morning Walk.
