Launched almost 7 years ago on 23rd January, 2012, Comedy Central India is an Indian entertainment channel that mainly broadcasts serials and shows based on comic genre. It is a local version of the international Comedy Central channel which was initiated in the United States of America during the 1990s. The Comedy Central India is owned by Viacom 18, which is a joint venture between the multinational mass media conglomerate of Viacom and the Indian private company of TV18.

The primary shows that are being aired on the entertainment channel of Comedy Central India are American sit-coms and late night talk shows. The television shows being aired are the updated recent seasons, which are being broadcasted simultaneously with the US time.
Comedy Series: Since Comedy Central India is supposed to be a comedy channel, most of the shows aired here are sitcoms, which is also a genre of comedy. A sitcom television program is centred on a fixed set of characters that carry over from episode to episode. These are usually recorded in front of a live studio audience, example being the 1994 cult classic F.R.I.E.N.D.S, which had a total of 10 seasons and reruns of which are still aired on Comedy Central India. Sometimes, the effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track.
Comedy Central India also airs reruns of other hit shows like the Warner Bros produced show 2 Broke Girls, along with The Big Bang Theory and Superior Donuts. More recent seasons of sitcoms like Superstore (Season 3), Kevin Can Wait (Season 2), Will and Grace (Season 9), Brooklyn Nine- Nine (Season 6) and Young Sheldon (Season 2) are being aired on Comedy Central India. The only drama show airing on the channel is the American legal drama series called Suits (Season 8).
Late Night Shows: In Comedy Central India, the late night shows mainly comprise of reality shows and talk shows. Hidden camera reality series like Impractical Jokers (Season 7) and live television variety show Saturday Night Live (Season 43) along with talk shows like The Graham Norton Show (Season 2) and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (Season 5) are also aired on Comedy Central India.
