Church of the Carmelites situated in Old Goa fell into disuse as the Carmelites were expelled from Goa. The church now stands in complete ruins.

Church of Carmelites, GoaThe Church of the Carmelites is located in Old Goa. The church is situated to the southeast corner of the Church of St. Cajetan and is more or less attached to the hill on which the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount stands.

History of Church of Carmelites
The Church of Carmelites was built in 1961. This church is a depiction of the rich recorded foundation of Goa. The Portuguese strongly established their religion in Goa and thus built numerous churches that stand testimony to it. The Church transports the tourists with the nostalgic feeling of the Carmelites. The Carmelites when refused to take the Oath of Allegiance to the King were expelled from Goa in 1707. After their expulsion, the church fell into disuse and eventually with the passage of time only the ruins are presently left.

The architecture of the church highlighted the true medieval architecture but now except the facade and a raised pavement, which served as an altar meant for prayers, nothing remains of the church.
