Chhimtuipui District situated in the southern most part of Mizoram State is mostly inhabited by the Lakher and Chakma people.

Chhimtuipui District is located in the southern most part of Mizoram. Burma surrounds the eastern and the southern side of the district. While the western part is located in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh, the northern part is with Lunglei district of Mizoram. Chhimtuipui District is mostly inhabited by the Lakher and Chakma people. The town of Saiha is the headquarters of this district. Chhimtuipui District is a hilly town of 1,225 metre which is above the sea level. The area of this district is 3957 sq. km. The total number of inhabited village here is 170 and only one town was inhabited till 1985.

Apart from granite not much mineral products are available in this district. Big industries have not been established here although many small industries like handloom, carpentry, tailoring, bakery, press and binding of books and many others have been set up here. The Government is now taking up all possible steps to develop this district. There are several farms such as poultry, pig, goat, sheep, cattle, buffalo etc. There is also a fish farm. The district also has schools and colleges. Electricity has reached few villages in Chhimtuipui District.

Chhimtuipui District was divided into four rural development blocks: Lawngtlai, Sangau, Tuipang and Chawngte. The Lawngtlai District was created out of Chhimtuipui District on November 1998. Saiha is the headquarters of this district and all administrative activities are set up here. Many roads have connected Saiha with rest of the town and big villages of Mizoram. The names of these roads are: Saiha-Lunglei Saiha-Tuipang and others. A big river by the name Kaladdnj Talpuij Khawchhak runs towards south and enters into Burma through the middle of this district. Other two rivers Sertui and Tulohong also pass through this district to run towards south. Tuipang, a big village is situated in the eastern part of this district. Other villages are also located in the close vicinity. Like the Tongkolawing village is located in the southern part, the Parva village is situated in the south eastern part of this district. Vaseitlang is also a big village there.
