Charanjit Kumar is a famous Indian field hockey player. Charanjit Kumar is a gold medallist at the 1980 Men`s field hockey Olympic held in Moscow. While participating in the second edition of the Champions Trophy for the first time, Indian ended up 5th among 7 participating countries.

Charanjit Kumar was also included in the team along with famous Allen Schofield, Arvind Chhabra, Surjit Singh, Davinder Singh, Dung Dung, Ravinder Pal Singh, Ajitpal Singh, V Bhaskaran, Gurmail Singh, VJ Philips, Sukhbir Singh Grewal, Surinder Singh Sodhi, Zafar Iqbal, Mohammad Shahid and Mervyn Fernandes. When India went to play in the year 1982 at Amsterdam, Holland, Charanjit Kumar was also one of the parts of Indian National Hockey team. At that tournament India finished 3rd that happened to be India`s best ever performance so far in the Champions Trophy.
