Chakshushas is the first of the five classes of gods in the fourteenth Manwantara. He is considered as the Manu of the sixth Manwantara. Markandeya was born as a son of Kshatriya. He was exchanged at his birth for the son of Visranta Raja and was brought up by the prince as his own. In his previous birth he was born from Brahma`s eye thereby he is called Chakshusha meaning `the eye.`
Ripu`s wife Brihati had given birth to Chakshusha. Chakshusha had married Pushkarini, of the Marutta`s dynasty and was the daughter of Virana Prajapati.
