In the heartland of this mountainous state of Tripura, quite a handful of tribal communities reside in every hook and corner. There are several anthropologists who have inferred several important information about these tribal communities. No wonder, the name of this Chaimal tribal community also has been duly mentioned by them. Today even the Indian Government has honored these Chaimal tribes by bestowing upon them the status of the Scheduled tribe of the whole of the country.

What is also interesting about this Cahimal tribal community is that they have adapted to the habits of nomadism , who wander from one place to another through out the year. Although these Chaimal tribes are found in some of the areas of the state like Dharmanagar,Kailashahar,Amarpur and Udaipur sub-divisions, the number of the Chaimal families are quite less in comparison to the other tribal communities of Tripura state. So much so that because of their small number, the name of these Chaimal tribal community has hardly found any mentioning in the Census report that has been brought out in the year 1981.

As far as the occupations of these Chaimal tribes are concerned, there are quite few who have taken up Jhum cultivation. In fact evidences are being found where these Chaimal tribes move from place in search of the suitable Jhum land.

Whether any of the tribal communities is culturally enriched or not, is being highlighted in the cultural exuberance of that particular society. It that respects it can be said that the tribal society of the Chaimal community is quite ennobled. In fact there has been no dearth of dancing , music , beautiful clothes here. Festivals and fairs also are part and parcel of this Chaimal tribal community. Although these Chaimal tribal community celebrate all the national festivals of the country , they have the style of incorporating the tinge of their indigenous rites and rituals to them.
