Budhni is a Nagar Panchayat and a town in the district of Sehore in Madhya Pradesh. The town of Budhni, which was earlier known as Buddha Nivasini meaning the residential place of Lord Buddha, is historically significant. The region has developed as a key center for Indian Textile industry. Abhishek Industries and Vardhman Industries have been established in the region and have contributed much to the development of Budhni.
Geography of Budhni
Budhni is located on the road from Bhopal to Hoshangabad and lies almost 10 km away from Hoshangabad towards north on the banks of Narmada River. Budhni is almost 69 km far from the city of Bhopal. There are a few villages situated near this town like Aankhmau, Bachwada, Ganera, Gora, Nasirabad, Baglon etc. The towns of Kesla (41km), Sohagpur (33 km) and Babai (17 km) are also located near by.
Demography of Budhni
According to the 2001 census, the total population of Budhni is 13,862, of which females constitute 45% of the population and males 55%. The average literacy rate of the town is 71%, more than the national average (59.5%). Female literacy rate is 63% with male literacy of 78%. Around 14% of the total population is below 6 years of age.

There are several primary and higher educational schools established in Budhni town. The Scope College of Engineering, which provides opportunities for further education in Engineering and related fields, is also located near the town.
Tourism of Budhni
Budhni is situated close to the Vindhyavasni Devi Siddhpeeth at Salkanpur. It is located on top of a hill and is considered holy and sacrosanct by the locals. It is a popular pilgrimage and numerous devotes visit the site daily by climbing a steep staircase. A majestic temple is being constructed on the peak of the hill. Budhni Ghat is also an important location for the inhabitants of Budhni. It is mainly used for swimming, but many other activities are also conducted here.
At present, the town of Budhni has become well known due to various political conflicts related to Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
