Brindaban Das, also known as Vrindavana Dasa Thakura, was a Bengali Author who composed the `Chaitanya Bhagavata`, a full-length biography on the legendary saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the Bengali language.

Early Life of Brindaban Das
Brindaban Das was born in the area of Mamgachi, Navadwipa, which is situated in the state of West Bengal. Vaikunthanatha Vipra and Narayani were the parents of this famous Bengali writer. His mother Narayani was the niece of Srivasa Pandita, who was a direct follower of the mystic saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is believed that his father had died prior to his birth. This prompted his mother to shift to the home of Srivasa in Mayapur. As a young man, Brindaban Das received indoctrination from Nityananda who was among the main disciples of Chaitanya.

Works of Brindaban Das
Brindaban Das had created Chaitanya Bhagavata in the year 1535, and it was initially termed as `Chaitanya Mangala`. But, Lochana Das, a poet had also produced a literary work under this very title. This was the reason why important Vaishnavas in the region of Vrindavan decided that his book should be entitled as `Chaitanya Bhagavata` and Lochana Das`s book would be known as `Chaitanya Mangala`. Brindaban Das was considered the `Vyasa of Chaitanya` by the Gaudiya Vaishnavas since he was the first to state that Mahaprabhu Chaitanya was not only an avatar of God, but he was God himself.

Brindaban Das has composed several other important works, though Chaitanya Bhagavata is the only majestic literary creation of this writer.
