Bombay Rockers are a Danish-Indian fusion band. It was formed with Thomas Sardorf and Navtej Singh Rehal. They became very popular in India. "Introducing" is their first album, which sold over 1,000,00 copies, going five times platinum. Navtej Singh Rehal is the voice behind the punjabi vocals in the songs.
During the year 2002, Rehal met the Scandinavian producer-team WCA (Thomas Sardorf and Janus Barnewitz). Together they started producing a combination of R&B, Hip Hop and Bhangra-influenced vocals. The songs highlighted the cultural background of theirs. Usually Navtej Singh Rehal implements the Punjabi vocals and Thomas, the English vocals. "Ari Ari", was their first quislingism, which received a massive national airplay in Denmark. The album became a favourite of leftfield DJs.
In 2003 in the month of July, Bombay Rockers for the first time with the house duo Filur went live on stage in front of roughly 20,000 people at Roskilde Festival. Only after a month, they played in the "Images of Asia" festival. Then onwards, they have executed many concerts in Copenhagen and the rest of Denmark. Bombay Rockers have also sung with the illustrious English DJ project Panjabi MC in the year 2003. In 2003, Bombay Rockers released their first solo album, "Sexy Mama", which is considered as their first official album apart from "introducing". The songs of this album rocked the nation. "Rock tha Party" was their next hit single, which again ruled over major radio stations. Danish national radio had it on A-rotation; it was on top of the Danish Dance Chart and the Danish Single Chart.
The album had to be re-released throughout the year 2004, through numerous copies. "Wild Rose" their third single video, was shot in Dubai. But, simultaneously their first album "introducing" has already been released in Denmark. The album was released in 32 countries in the year 2005. In mid-2005 "Sexy Mama" was released. Bombay Rockers, by that time had already spread their waves in India and Pakistan. More than 100,000 copies of this album had been sold. On the Indian Album Charts also, the album stuck to the no.1 position for 15 consecutive weeks.
In Dubai and Bahrain, they were also the supporting act for the popband `Westlife`in gigs. In May 2007, they released their new album, "Crash and Burn". "Kushi", one of the singles, has received a lot of play time on the Indian and Pakistani music channels.
