Early Life of Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri Dixit was born on 15th May 1967 in Mumbai. She was born as Madhuri Shankar Dixit to Shankar and Snehlata Dixit, of a Marathi Brahmin family. She got educated at the Divine Child High School and University of Mumbai and wanted to be a microbiologist. She has been trained in Kathak.

Career of Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri Dixit made her cinematic debut with the film "Abodh" in 1984 and gained recognition in the celluloid industry with the film "Tezaab" in 1988. Apart from gaining a prominent place amongst the leading actresses of the country she has also enchanted the silver screen with her mesmerizing persona and phenomenal dancing skills. She then went on to become the queen of Bollywood with huge box-office hits with films such as "Ram Lakhan" in 1989, "Parinda" in 1989, "Tridev" in 1989 and others. The decade of 1990s saw few of her finest movies of Bollywood. Even after a long break, the actress managed to gather huge appreciations for her heart touching performance. She also appeared in the movies "Bombay Talkies", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", "Dedh Ishqiya" and "Gulaab Gang".

Madhuri Dixit has also been involved with humanitarian activities. She performed in NDTV Toyota Greenathon in 2009 for creating awareness about environmental issues. In 2011 she spent an evening at an ashram in Trimbakeshwar with 75 orphanage kids of farmers and celebrated the birthdays of two of them. She is also a patron for "Emeralds for Elephants", which is a charity project for conserving Asian elephants and other endangered species, and a Goodwill Ambassador. In the year 2012, on World Cancer Day, she interacted with cancer affected children.

She has received two nominations in the Best Actress category for the International Indian Film Academy Awards. She was honoured with the International Film Festival of India. In 1997, Dixit was felicitated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with the Kalabhinetri award, for her skills as an actress. In 2012, Dixit was honoured with the Vishesh Award for her contribution to Indian Cinema. In 2001, Dixit was honoured with the National Citizen Award for contribution to Indian cinema. In 2012, Dixit was awarded the Platinum Diva Award in recognition of her brilliance in the field of acting.

Dixit has won three awards out of four nominations in the Best Actress category and one award in the Best Supporting Actress category in the Screen Awards. In 1996, Dixit was honoured with the Smita Patil Memorial Award. In 2012, The Network honoured Dixit by naming a star in the Orion constellation after her. In 2011, Dixit was honoured by Vogue magazine, with the Bollywood Beauty Legend Award at the 2011 Vogue Beauty Awards. She has received the Zee Cine Awards as well.

Personal Life of Madhuri Dixit
In 1999, Madhuri Dixit married Shriram Madhav Nene, a UCLA-trained cardiovascular surgeon and has two sons, Arin and Raayan.
