She was born in Delhi, but soon after, she shifted to the "City of Joy", Kolkata with her whole family. She has an elder sister Bidishi and a younger sister Vijayeta. Basu accomplished her 12the grade from Bhavan`s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir and then attained her graduation degree in commerce from The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society College.

Early Career of Bipasha Basu
While still in the phase of building her academic career, Bipasha won a regional beauty contest and ventured into the world of modelling in high spirits. Following that she was crowned with the honour of the glorious title "Tulips Ms Super Vivacious" in the Ford Supermodel Contest and was then flown down to the New York City. At such an early phase in her career she was spotted by the world famous photographer Steven Meisel and also featured in the renowned Vogue Magazine. Later back home she set the ramps on fire by walking on it for almost all the renowned designers of the nation. On the commercial campaigns front also she has endorsed for many brands with superb grace and elegance.

Film Career of Bipasha Basu
The very talented Bipasha Basu has made her Bollywood debut in the "masala" flick Ajnabee which starred the popular Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Kareena Kapoor. Her next film Raaz released in the year 2002 went onto become a huge commercial success and established her as a top-graded actress. Following this she starred in the music video of the great Indian singing sensation Sonu Nigam titled "Tu". She also made a brief appearance in the music video of Jay Sean "Stolen" but made the audiences feel her magnetic presence throughout.

She again claimed to fame in the item number "Beedi Jalaile" in the award winning Bollywood flick Omkara. Following that she received accolades for her commercial blockbuster No Entry and then went on to bowl the silver screen audiences over with the character portrayal of a rising executive in the Bollywood flick `Corporate` by Madhur Bhandarkar. The 2006 movie Dhoom 2 starring Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarys Rai, 2007 movie Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal featuring John Abraham and 2008 two releases Race starring Akshay Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Kartina Kapoor and Bachana Ae Haseeno potrating Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone are some the movies which were blockbuster hits at the box office. She has however other movies like Rudraksh, Madhoshi, No Smoking, Apaharan, Shikhar and others which flopped at the box office.

She was seen in the renowned Bengali filmmaker Rituporno Ghosh`s Bengali project "Sab Choritro Kalponik" and in a Telugu Movie Panasa. She has won the Filmfare Best Debut Award for first movie Ajnabi.

In 2005 and 2007 she has been honoured with the title of being "Asia`s Sexiest Woman` by the U.K. magazine Eastern Eye.

Personal Life of Bipasha Basu
Bipasha Basu was in relationship with Dino Morea since 1996, until they broke up in 2002. Soon afterwards during the shooting of Jism she got close to John Abraham, and they were in a relationship till early 2011. In the year 2011, Bipasha was ranked 8 in the Times 50 most desirable Women and ranked 13 in 2012. She was voted as "Sexiest Woman in Asia" twice in 2005 and 2007 respectively by UK magazine Eastern Eye.

She is an open advocate of physical fitness, and apart from fitness she also released fitness DVD named Love Yourself that emphasized on being strong and healthy life.
