Arjun Rampal is a popular film actor from India who has been featured in several successful Hindi films. He is also a well known former fashion model as well. Rampal made his acting debut with the Bollywood film Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in the year 2001. He has eventually established himself as a reputed actor and film star through his brilliant performances in several blockbuster films, such as Asambhav, Vaada, Don The Chase Begins Again, Om Shanti Om, Rock On, Housefull, Raajneeti, Inkar, D-Day and Ra.One.
Early Life of Arjun Rampal
Arjun Rampal was born on 26 November 1972 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh to Gwen Rampal and Amarjeet Rampal. He completed his education from the prestigious Kodaikanal International School in the state of Tamil Nadu, where his mother also served as a teacher. Arjun later attended St. Patrick`s High school in Deolali and completed his graduation in Economics from Delhi University`s Hindu College. He has a younger sister Komal and the Bollywood actress Kim Sharma is his cousin.
Career of Arjun Rampal
Arjun Rampal was a highly popular model who worked mostly with the renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal, who discovered him in a discotheque. Later Rajiv Rai cast him in a music video opposite model Namrata Baruah and eventually launched him in the Bollywood film Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in 2001, which also featured actors Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani and Kirty Reddy. Although the film was not successful, but he was much praised by the critics and established him as one of the leading actors in the Indian film industry. Later his film Moksha released in the same year, which featured Manisha Koirala opposite him. Another film titled Deewaanapan also released in 2001, where he acted alongside Dia Mirza.
Arjun Rampal co-starred with Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen and Paresh Rawal in the movie Aankhen, directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. In the year 2003, he played the lead role in Dil Ka Rishta, with Aishwarya Rai, but the movie was unsuccessful at the box office. He also made a guest appearance in the multi-starrer Bollywood chartbuster Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. In another Bollywood blockbuster of the recent years, Don-The Chase Begins, Arjun Rampal essayed the role Jasjit. Later, he appeared in a negative role in the Bollywood chartbuster Om Shanti Om. He also launched his own production company called Chasing Ganesha Films, which had produced a venture titled I See You in the year 2006.
His other moderately popular ventures include Tehzeeb, Vaada, Dil Ka Rishta, Dil Hai Tumhara, Asambhav, Elaan, Yakeen, Humko Tumse Pyar Hai, Ek Ajnabee, Darna Zaroori Hai and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd, Dus Kahaniyan. The actor has given his commendable performances in the movies, Rock on with Farhan Akhtar in 2008 and Prakash Jha`s multi starrer Raajneeti in 2010.
Arjun Rampal captured the hearts of the audiences in the Temptations 2004 concert where he shared the stage with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee and Priyanka Chopra. He was also seen in an English Language film titled The Last Lear. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was received well at a number of other film festivals. In 2010, he acted in a supporting role in the film Housefull, directed by Sajid Khan. Rampal also played the lead role in the film We Are Family (2010), opposite Kareena Kapoor and Kajol.
In the year 2011, Arjun Rampal played the title character in the film Ra.One, opposite Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. He played a negative role in the film which became a blockbuster in the country. Apart from acting, he has also been active associated with lots of charity work and has sponsored many children in a particular orphanage.
