Bolla village, located at a distance of about 20 kilometres from Balurghat town on Balurghat-Malda Highway houses this temple. The famous temple is dedicated to Bolla Ma Kali and has been named after the Goddess.

There is a famous legend associated with the temple. The legend says that once a Zamindar was arrested by the British, owing to his failure to pay the Zamindari tax. To rescue the Zamindar, Goddess Kali came herself and the Zamindar was released the next day. The grateful Zamindar paid his gratitude by building a temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, and started to worship her. Since the Zamindar was released on a Friday that followed the Rash Purnima and so on every Friday after the Rash Purnima, Kali Puja is celebrated in the temple. A sea of devotees, from different parts of South Dinajpur district, gathers in the temple during the Puja and offer prayers. A three day fair is organized by the Puja committee on this occasion. Animal sacrifice, also known as Bali, is also a prominent feature of this Puja.
