Before undergoing transitioning, Bobby got an entry into the Limca Book of Records for doing 18 roles as a gay at the age of just 23. She rose to fame with her appearance in the Indian reality show Bigg Boss. She has also been one of the first people to represent sexuality minorities in the media. She has also acted in several popular television shows. In 2005 she has been awarded as the Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Monaco International Film Festival, (Monaco) for the Tamil film Navarasa. In 2012 she was also honoured with Hira Manek Women Achievers Award in Mumbai.

Early Life of Bobby Darling
Bobby Darling was born in Delhi with the name Pankaj Sharma. She hails from a family of three children and is the child of an English Professor who is also a bank manager by profession. Being homosexual, she often encountered hitches with her family. Her mother died while she was a teenager. In the twelfth standard she bunked her board exams and eloped with her boyfriend to the Far East and Europe. She returned back while her mother was at the deathbed, following which his boyfriend also called off their relationship. After his mother died her dad disowned her from the property. To avoid further humiliation from friends she moved to Mumbai. In the city she initially found employment as a gay dancer in a bar and also began her search for work in the entertainment industry.

Career of Bobby Darling
Bobby Darling got her first role in the Bollywood chartbuster Taal in which she portrayed the role of the make up artist of Aishwarya Rai. After that offers came pouring down on her. She acted in N. Chandra`s Style, Na Tum Jano Na Hum and Sohail Khan`s home-production Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. She also appeared in Shahrukh Khan`s home-production Chalte Chalte and then Akbar Khan signed her for a role in his venture titled Taj Mahal. She also had roles in another two Bollywood flicks called Fun2shh and Aruna Raje directed Tum. Other popular films in which Bobby Darling acted enlist Apna Sapna Money Money, Page 3, Stumped, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum and many more.

Later she also acted in a film called Shadow in which she played a double role, one of a normal guy and the other of a gay. She claims that the medium of television also gave her some remarkable breaks. She did Kitne Cool Hain Hum, Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin Kissi Roz, Kyon Hota Hai Pyar, Hum Paanch, and Professor Pyarelal. She also appeared in Deepti Bhatnagar Productions Kabhie Aaye Na Judaai and performed in a music video by DJ Aqeel called `Arre Deewano` along with another Bollywood star Jackie Shroff. She appeared in the reality shows Big Boss and Sach Ka Samna.

In the year 2010 Bobby Darling underwent surgery for breast implant. She has also been a vocal supporter of LGBT rights.
