Biswajit Chatterjee, Indian Movie ActorBiswajit Chatterjee, is a prominent Indian actor, who is known for several successful Hindi as well as Bengali films. Born on 14th December 1936, he began his career with the Bengali film industry and gradually moved to Bollywood garnering popularity in celluloid. Biswajit Chatterjee also ventured into Indian politics and contested in the 2014 general election representing New Delhi as a Trinamool Congress candidate.

Career of Biswajit Chatterjee
Biswajit Chatterjee stepped into the film industry with Bengali films. Initially he starred in a couple of Bengali movies like Mayamrigo in 1960 and Dui Bhai in 1961. Subsequently he relocated to Mumbai. In the year 1962 he appeared in the Bollywood flick Bees Saal Baad. This was followed by many hit Hindi films such as Kohraa, Paisa Ya Pyaar, Kaise Kahoon, Majboor, Bin Badal Barsat and many more. Biswajit Chatterjee has acted with many noted and successful actresses of Bollywood including Rajshree, Mala Sinha, Mumtaz, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh and others. The film was however blocked by the censors and it released after 10 years. Biswajit Chatterjee has also appeared in the movie Chhotto Jigyasa in which he starred with his five year old son Prasenjit.

While working in the Hindi film industry, Biswajit Chatterjee frequently visited Kolkata and starred in many Bengali films among which the notable ones include Garh Nasimpur with Uttam Kumar, Chowringhee, Srimaan Prithviraj, Amar Geeti, Jai Baba Taraknath and Kuheli. In addition to being an accomplished actor, Biswajit is also a proficient singer and has performed in many musical concerts. In the year 1975 Biswajit Chatterjee ventured into production and direction with the film Kahte Hai Mujhko Raja. He himself also acted in the movie with Bollywood stars like Rekha, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini and Dharmendra. The music of the film was composed by R. D. Burman.

Personal Life of Biswajit Chatterjee
Biswajit Chatterjee has been married twice and has three children. He firstly married Ratna Chatterjee and they have a son and a daughter. He abandoned his first wife when his children were young and got married again. His son Prasenjit Chatterjee is a noted actor of the Bengali film industry and his daughter Pallabi Chatterjee is a Bengali film and television actress. Biswajit has a daughter named Shambhavi with his second wife.
