Birla College is the first College in Thane to be accredited with five star ratings by Mumbai University.

Birla College, Kalyan, MumbaiBirla College was established in 1972 through the dedicated efforts of Kalyan Charity Trust and Kalyan Citizen`s Education Society. This was the first educational institution in the 70s catering to the needs of rural students of the region. It is also the first college in Thane to be accredited with a five star rating. It is also among the top 10 colleges in Athletics and Weight lifting in the city.

USP of the college:
There is a separate library building stocked with more than 67,000 books, magazines, encyclopedias, CDs, video Cassettes and journals. They have Gymnasium, badminton and basket Ball courts, and sports complex. A new building of Birla Institute of Technology and Management Studies is admeasuring 31,250 sq. ft. is in its final stages.

Arts, Science, and Commerce. Electronics, Computer Science and IT are offered as Vocational Subjects in Junior College.
