A major patriotic collection of poem of Binanda Chandra Barua is the Sangkhadhani (1925). In Smasan, the nomadic folk singer, sad and thoughtful sees the vision of India melting into a crematory ground. Rangamuar vir, Agiyathutir vir are patriotic poems with their themes based on history. Rangpur is a poem that has a good musical rhythm. It s effect is achieved through verses and repetition of the consonants. Another similar poem is Gargoan. Here the historical atmosphere of independent Assam with her dignity, vigour and colour has been picturesquely painted. This poem is the first of its kind in Assamese poetry. His other poetical work is Pratidhani (1938).
