Bihar Museum, Patna, BiharBihar Museum is a museum located in Patna, the capital city of the East Indian state of Bihar. It was partially opened in August, 2015. This is a state of the art museum, which has a multitude of artefacts. The main focus of this museum is to bring into limelight the rich history and culture of this region of India. Artefacts from ancient India are kept here. Bihar Museum also has the gallery of modern art, contemporary paintings and sculpture.

Location of Bihar Museum
Bihar Museum is spread over an area of 13.9 acres of land and is located on the southern flank of Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Bailey Road, in Patna.

Planning of Bihar Museum
Bihar Museum at Patna was born from the brain child of Nitish Kumar, who felt the need for a modern cultural organization that would bring pride to the people of Bihar and accelerate progress in the State of Bihar. He envisioned an art museum, which act as a catalytic centre and place of transformation. It was planned as a multi-cultural hub. Bihar Museum engages visitors with interactive storytelling and multimedia exhibits like audio-visual filming.

Galleries of Bihar Museum
The galleries of Bihar Museum had travelled throughout ages to narrate glorious history of Bihar, bringing it alive in a renewed context. This museum has different galleries which are as follows:

Orientation Gallery: The Orientation Gallery gives the basic idea about the museum. It has a theatre which gives an introduction about the museum that is screened here.

Children"s Gallery: The Children"s Gallery has Orientation Room, the Wildlife Sanctuary, the history sections on Chandragupta Maurya and Sher Shah Suri, the Arts and Culture section and the Discovery Room.

History Gallery: In the History Gallery, the Gallery A has artefacts from Indus Valley Civilisation and Gallery B has artefacts from the Gupta Dynasty.

Regional Gallery: The Regional Gallery gives an insight into the culture and traditions of Bihar. The Didarganj Yakshi is one of major attractions of Historical Art section. There are two more galleries that is the Bihari Diaspora Gallery and the visible storage gallery.

Mission of Bihar Museum
The primary mission of Bihar is to return the lost glory of Bihar by rejuvenating the pride of Bihar and its people, bringing a shared sense of heritage for Indians and attracting an international audience to discover the extraordinary history of ancient India.

Objectives of Bihar Museum
Bihar Museum was planned to bring thousands year"s history of Bihar, Rajgir, Madhya Pradesh, Gaya, Nalanda into focus, inspiring local residents and visitors from across the world to explore the rich heritage, historic sites and cultural attractions of this state of eastern India.

Architecture of Bihar Museum
Japan"s Maki and Associates along with Mumbai"s Opolis Architects developed the architectural design of the Bihar Museum.
