Bigg Boss Season 3 that was the third season of `Bigg Boss`, the popular reality programme of Indian television. It brought something new interesting with Bigg Boss Season 3. As per the expectations of the audiences the third season of the reality show was full of sparkling moments along with some secrets and the regular lives of the beauty divas and showmen of the Bollywood film industry. The airing of Bigg Boss Season 3 began on 4th of October, 2009 on Colors channel and it continued till 26th of December 2009. Amitabh Bachchan was the host of this season of the show. In fact, the main stunt of Bigg Boss Season 3 was its host. The show continued for 84 days. It was aired at 9 pm on Colors. Vindu Dara Singh is the winner of the show while Pravesh Rana was announced as the 1st runner up and Poonam Dhillon was announced as the 2nd runner up of the show. Vindu Dara Singh won prize money of Rs.1 Crore. Moreover, he was also declared the most elegant, bold and daring contestant of the show.
The housemates of Bigg Boss 3 were Ismail Darbar, Bollywood musician; Sherlyn Chopra, Bollywood actress; Kamal Rashid Khan, a Bhojpuri actor; Poonam Dhillon, veteran Bollywood actress and former Femina Miss India; Bhakhtiyaar Irani, TV actor; Tannaz Currim, small screen and Bollywood actress and model; Vindu Dara Singh, TV and film actor.
Apart from these contestants the list includes Aditi Govitrikar, Mrs. World 2001 and former Gladrags Champion, an actress and a model; Jaya Sawant, mother of Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant; Shamita Shetty, a Bollywood actress; Claudia Ciesla, a German Singer, model and actress; Rohit Verma, an Indian Fashion Designer and Raju Srivastav, popular for his comedy in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (Season 1).
The first one to leave the Bigg Boss house was Jaya Sawant who was voted out by the other contestants for being `less lively` and `out of place`. The other housemates found that she was uncomfortable with the rest of the crowd who were much younger than her. The second housemate of the house of Bigg Boss to get eliminated was Kamaal Rashid Khan. The other housemates had strong detestation for him for his misbehaviour with the rest of the participants of this reality game show. This film maker remarked that the television only highlighted his rash behaviour but the good heart behind this violent persona was very artistically removed in the editing room.
Sherlyn Chopra, who was nominated four times continuously by the participants, was chosen to be the third housemate to leave the Bigg Boss house. After her exit from the Bigg Boss house, this Bollywood actress confessed that her interaction with Kamal Rashid Khan as the major reason for her nomination.
The housemates of the Bigg Boss have nominated Vindu Dara Singh, Tanaaz Currim, Ismail Darbar and Bakhtiyaar Irani. Ismail Darbar was the fourth housemate to be ejected from the Bigg Boss house. He was eliminated in the fifth week. In the sixth week, Bakhtiyaar Irani and Tanaaz Currim were nominated for elimination. Tanaaz Currim was ejected on accout of the votes of the people.
Moreover, in the sixth week, Bigg Boss sent Claudia and Pravesh were sent to jail because they spoke in English for a long span of time within the house. Raju Srivastav was selected as the new `Mahanideshak` as Shamita Shetty was not justifying the position of `Mahanideshak`, Bigg Boss announced. Pravesh Rana, Mr. India 2008, and Vinod Kambli, cricketer entered the Bigg Boss house with the help of wild card. They had actually replaced the superstar of the 1970`s Rajesh Khanna, who was reportedly slated to make a wild card entry in the show.
Interestingly, in the seventh week six housemates of the Bigg Boss house were nominated for elimination. It happened for the first time that so many contestants were nominated. In that week, Vindu, Raju and Rohit were banned by Bigg Boss from nomination on grounds of plotting and planning. Aditi, Claudia, Vinod, Pravesh, Bakhtiyaar and Rohit were the ones being nominated. Vinod was evicted after the public vote out. In this week Shamita Shetty walked out of the show. Bigg Boss ordered Pravesh and Claudia not to talk to each other because they were found speaking in English several times. On wild card entry, Kamal re-enters in the Bigg Boss house this week.
In the eighth week, Rohit, Bakhtiyaar and Vinud were nominated. Bakhtiyaar Irani was voted safe and Rohit was evicted out of the show. As Kamal was a guest in the house, he did not have the right either to nominate anyone or even to get nominated. And in the ninth week, Raju and Pravesh were nominated by the other housemates. In this week, Raju Srivastav was evicted after the public vote out. In the 10th week, there was a change in the nomination process. Big Boss nominated the house mates. All the contestants who violated the house rules in the 9th week during the task were chosen for eviction. In this week Claudia, Poonam, Pravesh, Aditi, Bhaktiyaar, and Vindu were nominated and Claudia was evicted after the vote out.
The nominations for the 11th week include Bhaktiyaar, Vindu, Poonam, and Aditi. This time, Aditi Govitrikar was eliminated after the public vote. In the 12th week, Bhakhtiyaar Irani accepted the offer of Rs. 1 Million that was given by Bigg Boss and he opted to walk out of the show on Day 79. Vindu, Poonam and Pravesh were the three finalists of the show. Poonam was evicted on the final day (Day 84) of the show after facing the public vote. Vindu Dara Singh was declared as the winner and Pravesh Rana as the first runner up of Big Boss Season 3.
Bigg Boss Season 3 was one such show that was full of excitements and unexpected turning points. This show with a renowned personality like Amitabh Bachchan as the host was hugely popular with the Indian audiences.
