Bhuri Singh Museum,Chamba, Himachal PradeshBhuri Singh Museum is situated at Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. It was inaugurated on 14th September 1908. It is named after Raja Bhuri Singh who was the king of Chamba from 1904 to 1919.

Earlier it was the treasure house of Chamba`s ruling family. Raja Bhuri Singh donated his family collection of paintings and several other royal collections to the museum. The main initiative to establish this museum was taken by J. Ph. Vogel, a famous Indologist.

The Museum contains different types of elements, which reflects the traditional art, and culture of the region. The inscription in Sarda script and Kangra miniature paintings deserve special mention.The inscriptions in Sarda script represent the history of the eighteenth century of Chamba. The miniature paintings show court life and amorous scenes of mediaeval Chamba.The paintings of Bhagwat Purana and Ramayana influenced by Basohli idiom of painting is also preserved here. Guler-Kangra style of painting is also found there.

The Museum houses different types of hookahs, coins, hill jewelry, costumes, and musical instruments. The significant Phari painting and sculpture and unique embroidery works done by ladies are also found there. Except on Mondays the museum is open on all weekdays from 10 AM to 5 PM.
