Bhowali, UttarakhandBhowali is a municipal board and a town in Nainital District in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It lies close to Ghorakhal, also known for Golu Devta Temple and Sainik School Ghorakhal. Bhowali is situated at an average elevation of 1654 meters or 5426 feet. Bhowali is the gateway to many places in the Kumaon Division like Bageshwar District and Almora for people coming from the Haldwani route. Many lakes neighbour Bhowali like Bhimtal Lake, Sattal, Nal Damyanti Tal, Naukuchiatal Lake, Sukha Tal, and Khurpa Tal. The place is the perfect hill station destination. It is 1706 meters above sea level and 11 km away from Nainital. This road is actually a junction serving all the nearby hill station from Nainital. Bhowali is a popular for scenic grandeur and as a hill fruit mart, Bhowali is also popularly known for its T.B. sanatorium set up in 1912.

Bhowali is situated 11 km from the city of Nainital, and is commonly known as T.B. sanatorium, was set up in the year 1912 where Kamala Nehru also stayed for a while. It is now a popular fruit market for all the neighbouring regions and also an important road junction to the near by hilly areas like Nainital, Bhimtal Lake, Mukteshwar, Ranikhet and Almora.

Uttarakhand Judicial and Legal Acedemy (UJALA) is the latest addition to the support and infrastructure of the town. The foundation stone was laid on December 19, 2004 by Honourable Mr. Justice R.C. Lahoti, the then Chief Justice of India in the presence of Honourable Sri N.D. Tiwari, the then Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Honourable Mr. Justice V.S. Sirpurkar, the then Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court and now the Judge of Supreme Court of India. Administrative-cum-training block of the academy was constructed. Mess and hostel of the academy is also constructed.

Some of the popular spot around the region is a famous shrine Golu Devta temple at Ghorakhal, which stand on hill above an Army school, the Sainik School Ghorakhal, set up in 1966 in the Ghorakhal Estate of the Nawab of Rampur.
