Bhavishya Badri shrine, also known as `Bhabisya Badri` or `Badrinath of Future` is a renowned pilgrimage spot which is one of the `Panch Badri` spots worshipped with devotion by Hindu devotees. Tourists can reach "Bhavishya Badri" by crossing Tapovan and trekking through lush forests, which are present on the road to Mansarovar and Mount Kailash at the side of Dhauli Ganga River. A motorable road to Saldhar which is about 19 kilometres from Joshimath is used to travel to this ancient place of worship. At present, "Bhavishya Badri" possesses an idol of `Narasimha`, the lion-faced divine incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Bhavishya Badri is situated at an altitude of 2, 744 metres above the sea level, in Subhian Village, at a distance of nearly 17 kilometres from Joshimath in Uttarakhand.

Legends of Bhavishya Badri
The mythological legendary story, which declares that at the end of `Kali Yuga`, a landslide will collapse the mountains of Nara and Narayana, which would eventually block the pathway to Badrinath Temple, rendering the road inaccessible. The words `Nara` and `Narayana` mean Arjuna (who was the third son of Kunti) and Krishna, as per the Hindu epic Mahabharata. It is believed that this fatal landslide would occur when the right arm of the image of "Narasimha" would dissociate itself from its body.

Kali Yuga is believed to come to a sudden end when all kinds of evil forces swallow up the world, welcoming the creation of a brand new world known as `Satyuga`. Lord Vishnu, in his divine avatar of `Kalki` is believed to bring about the destruction of the Kali Yuga. Thereafter, Lord Badrinath would transfer his holy abode to "Bhavishya Badri" and ultimately be worshipped by devotees at this spot, rather than at the previous shrine of Badrinath. The sacred shrine of Narasingh Badri at the area of Joshimath is also related to this myth.

Nearest Airport to Bhavishya Badri is Jolly Grant Airport at a distance of 272 kilometres and this is the only airport to arrive near Joshimath.
