Bharatiya Nritaya Kala Mandir, Patna, BiharBharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir is located in Patna, the capital city of Bihar in India. More specifically, this Mandir is located at Frazer road near Doordarshan Kendra in Patna. The Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir translates into Indian Dance Arts Temple in English. It is basically an art and craft museum and a prominent multi-purpose cultural complex in the city. Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir has currently its own private managing body, which was formed under the Bihar Societies Registration Act 21, 1860, in 1963 by late Padmashri Hari Uppal.

History of Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir
Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir was officially opened in 1963. This dream project was made a reality by Padmashri Hari Uppal, an eminent dance maestro in the early fifties.

Aims of Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir
Promotion of classical dance forms was the primary aim with which this Nritya Kala Mandir was set up. Bhartiya Kala Mandir has been acting as a platform for the promotion of local talents. The state government has taken the responsibility to organize a `shukr-gulzaar` on Friday and `shani-vihaar` on Saturday. These events are organized every week with the aim to sharpening local talents.

Architectural Design of Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir
Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir is divided into three parts to accommodate dance and drama studios, a gallery space and an art museum. Some of the dance forms mastered by the students attending dance classes in this Nritya Kala Mandir are Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi and folk dance. The art museum exhibits an entire gamut of ancient structures and objects, dating between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500. These include terracotta, jewelry, metal objects, stone sculptures, stone tools, pottery, musical instruments, wooden palki, textiles and masks.

Development of Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir
The new wing of Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir is a complex which would be divided into a cafetaria, art and painting gallery, an indoor auditorium and an underground parking space. The technical work related to this new wing is yet to reach its culmination. Also, this new wing awaits a competent firm to run it on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The state government had decided to convert the Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir into a music college which would be affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University.
