Bharath University is located in Chennai and was established in the year 1984. Bharath University is also known as Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research.

Bharath University, Chennai, Tamil NaduBharath University is a private deemed university whose main objective was to provide higher education in the field of technology and health science. In 2003 the University was given the status of deemed by the University Grant Commission.

The University has four campuses spread over different parts of Chennai and Pondicherry. These are Bharath Institute of Science and Technology, Selaiyur, Sree Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Pondicherry, Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, Chromepet, and Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Pallikaranai. All the campuses contain academic buildings, administrative buildings to guest house, drawing halls, laboratories, well equipped libraries, sophisticated computer centres, auditoriums, conference halls, recreation rooms, health centres, sports facilities, canteens, hostels, placement cells etc.

The University offers B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Arc. MBA, MCA degrees. It has fourteen Departments:
