Bhairabkunda is a famous picnic spot located in the Udalguri District of Assam on the borders of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is a tri-junction of Bhutan, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Jampani River (originating from Bhutan) and Bhairabi River merge in this spot to form the Dhanshiri River which is a major tributary of Brahmaputra River. The meeting point of the rivers looks like a "kunda" (means worshipping place of Lord Shiva), which gave it the name of Bhairabkunda. An irrigation project was constructed on Dhanshiri River at Bhairabkunda. A guide dam was also constructed in Bhutan for this project. The project is situated in Udalguri District within jurisdiction of Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District with the aim of bringing Udalguri, Rowta, Kalaigaon, Mazbat and Bechimari under Udalguri Civil Sub-Division.
