Bengali Films Of 2003, Bengali CinemaSeveral interesting films hit the cinema halls in Bengal in the year 2003. While Goutam Ghose came up with the sequel to Satyajit Ray`s Aranyer Din Ratri with Abar Aranye, Tarun Majumdar treated the audiences with his new film, Aalo. All in all this was eventful year for the Bengali film industry. The present Bollywood actress Vidya Balan debuted with her first film alongside a brilliant ensemble that included Soumitra Chatterjee as well. This film was directed by Goutam Halder. Aishwarya Rai was introduced to the Bengali audience for the first time as Binodini by Rituporno Ghosh`s Chokher Bali. This film was adapted from a novel by Rabindranath Tagore by the same name. The Bengali superstar Prasenjit was also seen in this movie in the role of the main male protagonist.

Alongside these films a number of commercial films were also released to entertain the audiences.
