The Belgaum Airport has a plan to extend its runway another 800mt in order to serve the Boeing 737-800 or A320 kind of planes. The apron is presently limited only for Avro or ATR airplanes. To fit in Boeing it needs a small expasion by at least 80mt X 100mt of the old taxiway on either southeast or the southwest side. The second taxiway is situated near the Emergency service Enclave, which is presently under construction. After finishing the construction work the airport authority has a plan to connect the same to the main apron that will cater to the VIP terminal. Air Deccan (Bangalore, Mumbai, Hubli, Kolhapur) and Kingfisher Airlines (Hubli, Mumbai) are the airlines that cater to the airport.
