Baruva Srikakulam is a significant beach resort nestled near Sompeta in Srikakulam district in the Andhra Pradesh state of India. One of the oldest beaches in Andhra Pradesh, it is located at an average elevation of 10 meters. The interesting thing about Baruva is that it serves dual purpose of a beach and a village in the state. The main town of Baruva is located a little away from the sea beach. This beach is an important merging point of the Mahendra Tanaya River into the Bay of Bengal.

Historical Significance of Baruva Srikakulam
In the colonial era, Baruva Beach cum village used to be an important location for trade and communication. At that time it was developed into a major seaport by the British. The seaport was operational until India was freed from the British rule. The beach still houses a huge pillar which was constructed to honour the grief of a ship"s sinking in the sea way back in the year 1917. Hence this beach is an important landmark today, even though the harbor is closed now.

Baruva Beach experiences humidity where the summers are comparatively hotter and winters are not too cold. The region also experiences rainfall and monsoon arrives once. The ideal time to explore this beach is from March to June when the whether is pleasant.

Baruva Srikakulam is located near the Durga Baruva railway station which is located on Howrah-Chennai mainline. Passenger trains that run from Palasa towards Khurda Road station pass through this station.
