The Bangalore Medical College (BMC) is located in the city of Bangalore in Karnataka, India and it is being run and managed by the State Government of Karnataka. The college came into existence in the year 1955 and was established by Dr. Shivram and Dr. Mekhri. The college was subsequently handed over to the government for management and it has been associated with some of the most eminent doctors in India, from its inception. The BMC, Bangalore is the only government medical college in Bangalore and is also counted among one of six in Karnataka. The college has been working with the objective of providing quality medical education to the students of the state and also providing high quality treatment to the people of Karnataka.
The Bangalore Medical College (BMC), Bangalore has been consistently ranked among the top ten medical colleges in India and it was ranked number 8 in 2006. The (BMC), Bangalore offers a large number of courses in different field of medical science and the courses are offered at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The college admits the students through extremely competitive national and state level entrance tests. The candidates, who are desirous of joining professional courses, are required to appear for a Common Entrance Test conducted by the Government of Karnataka both for "Free Seats" and "Payment Seats". The test is conducted for admission to the courses like MBBS/ BDS/ B.Tech and B.Arch.

The major hospitals associated with the BMC, Bangalore include the general hospitals like Victoria Hospital, Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital, Vanivilas Women & Children Hospital, and the Minto Hospital. Apart from these hospitals, the college is also involved in community health facilities like the Urban family welfare center on Siddaiah road, Bangalore and primary health centers in Pavgada, Sundekoppa, K.
