Bally Sagoo, Indian Musician Bally Sagoo is a DJ and British Indian musician, born in Delhi, India. Bally was raised in Birmingham, England. He achieved success as a DJ in the club scene and advanced into music by remixing old Bollywood hits and tuning them with hip hop. Bally Sagoo is considered as one of the pioneers of Bhangra, Bollywood and other forms Indian music. In 1994, he released his album Bollywood Flashback, which contained the remix track of the popular song Chura Liya. It was with this album that Bally shot to fame. In 1996, he released his next album "Rising from the East". Bally Sagoo was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the UK Asian Music Awards as in 2003.

Early Life of Bally Sagoo
Bally Sagoo was born Baljit Singh Sagoo on May 19th 1964. He was born in Ranjit Nagar, Delhi, India. But he was raised in Birmingham, England, in a preponderantly black neighbourhood. So it was apparent for him to be influenced by disco, rap and Motown music. He belongs to the music genre of Bhangra. In the club scenario, he earned first success as a DJ. Then onwards Sagoo started making music and recreating the old Bollywood hits, simultaneously mixing hip-hop in his musical genre. Bally Sagoo is honoured as the original pioneer of what is now modern Indian music.

At that time, there was absence of funky Indian music. In order to fill the void, he began a crusade on his personal front. He started experimenting with the traditional Indian Music by blending them with western beats and for this purpose he stole records from his father`s music store at night.

But due to lack of adequate finance, he took up a full time job as a Sales Assistant. His undying effort started reaping fruits in the year 1989. That very year, Oriental Star Agency, a local Indian record label gave him his first break. His remix track, called Hey Jamalo became an instant success. Bally was given due recognition of carting Indian music into the 21st century.

Bally Sagoo`s love for Disc Jockeying and Music led him to pursue his dream and he became a full time music producer. Then onwards, Bally went onto produce many hit albums. His innovative and bona fide musical style received many accolades including Gold and Triple Platinum albums all jostling for space on his walls. In the year 1992, Sagoo went onto bring about the groundbreaking ceremonial album Magic Touch featuring the legendary voice of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The collaboration proved to be a huge success. It gave Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan an espousal with the younger generation and put Bally Sagoo`s name on the lips of both the young and old.

With the Indian music industry safely clasped into his hands, he set out to cross over into the mainstream, by signing in with Sony Music in 1994. The renewing of classic Bollywood film songs, which was indeed a new concept, dawned on Bally Sagoo. The album titled Bollywood Flashback suitably became one of the largest sellers worldwide. Chura Liya, an exclusive album, became the first Indian song to be play listed on Radio One. His most popular work also features in Gurinder Chadha`s film It`s a Wonderful Afterlife and Bend It Like Beckham.

As a Celebrity DJ, Bally Sagoo travels throughout the globe to shell out his numbers. Wherever he goes, the houses run jam-packed. It is believed that he is the highest paid Indian DJ in the world. Supporting Michael Jackson he has toured India. In the year 1997, he came along on the UK National Lottery. Bally was invited on a personal invitation to the Presidential Palace by the President of India in 1997. He has signed many Bollywood and mainstream films with his original tunes as film directors chase him for his musical talent. He has achieved the feat to have sold more than 30 CDs under his belt. His endless efforts have transformed him into a brand name, endorsing products with the name of Bally Sagoo worldwide. He composed and acted in the Punjabi film, Sajna ve Sajna that released in 2007.
