Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat was erected in the year 1989 and covers an area of about 542.08 square kilometres. The sanctuary is named after two temples dedicated to Goddess Ambaji and possesses diverse kinds of flora and fauna.

Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary, Banaskantha District, GujaratBalaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary is existent in the northern portion of the state of Gujarat in the Aravalli Mountain Ranges, particularly in Banaskantha District. This sanctuary was developed on 7th August, 1989 by the active support of the Government of Gujarat. This wildlife sanctuary has been termed so due to the presence of two historical temples of Ambaji and Balaram in the vicinity of this region. One of the main goals of Balaram Anbaji Wildlife Sanctuary is the preservation, growth and development of different kinds of wild creatures and their natural habitats. The neighbouring area of Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for being the catchments of Sabarmati and Banas Rivers. The total area occupied by this sanctuary measures about 542.08 square kilometres.

Flora of Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary
The Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary boasts of 483 species of flora including 40 species of grass, 209 herbs, 107 trees, 58 shrubs and 10 lower plants like Kanji, Palash, Dhak, Saledi, Indrajav, Modad, Tesu, Behda, Bili, Dhavado, Timru, Musali, Golar, Arjun Salad, Kadaya, Khakhara, Dudhi, Desi Baval, Karanji, etc.

Fauna of Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary
Leopard, Sloth Bear, Small Indian Civet, Striped Hyena, Porcupine, Pangolin, Fox, Bluebull, reptiles consisting of Monitor Lizard, poisonous and non-poisonous snakes, Star Tortoise are all found in this wildlife reserve of Gujarat. There exists a large variety of birds involving Osprey, White Backed Vulture, Stork, Black Vulture, Spoonbill and many others. Some other wild animals which might be observed here are Wild Boar, Rhesus Macaque, Common Langur, Indian Hare and so on.
