Balamuri Ganapati Vrata is one of the Vratas of Lord Ganesha which helps the performer to achieve blessings for the fulfillment of desires. The Balamuri Ganapati Vrata is performed by installing an idol of Lord Ganesha, also known as Vinayaka. The image is usually formed of clay from river banks and the trunk is curved towards the right side.
The image of the deity is then sanctified and worshipped by the performer of the Balamuri Ganapati Vrata. After the prescribed rituals are performed, the Ganesha idol is then placed in a corner, a casket or a shelf. It is then consecrated and all the religious rites are performed with a particular purpose in view. The Lord is worshipped everyday and all the austere practices are also performed as mentioned in the religious scriptures.
It is believed that by performing this vrata, the desires of the performer will be fulfilled. Later the image of Ganesha is required to the consigned in the flowing waters of a river after performing all the prescribed rituals.
