Baglihar Dam is also known as Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project. It is a run-of-the-river power project on the Chenab River. The Baglihar Dam is located in the southern Doda district of the Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir. This planning of the project started in 1992 and was approved in 1996; the construction began in 1999. The Baglihar Dam has the capacity of 900 MW after its completion. The estimated cost of the project is around USD $1 billion. In 200, the first phase of the Baglihar Dam was completed.
