Ayurvedic Fried Rice is a nutritional dish which is made using various spices. The spices used in the recipe make it lighter, and hence it is a good appetizer. This dish can be eaten at restaurant and also can be prepared at home. The interesting part about this recipe is it can be easily cooked at home with the leftover ingredients including vegetables from other dishes. Ayurvedic Fried Rice can be consumed as a single dish. It can also be served with different side dishes like Gobhi Matar Rasedar, Dum Aloo, and Matar Paneer to name a few.
Ingredients of Ayurvedic Fried Rice
•Two and a half cup of water
•One cup of basmati rice
•Half teaspoonful of salt
•Half teaspoonful of mustard seeds
•Half teaspoonful of cumin seeds
•Three tablespoonful of sunflower oil
•A pinch of hing
•A pinch of turmeric
•Half an onion cut lengthwise into fine strips
•Seven curry leaves, fresh or dried
•Two tablespoonful of coriander
•Half green chilli finely chopped
Method of Preparing Ayurvedic Fried Rice
•Wash the rice and drain the water.
•In a medium pot add the rice, water and salt. Boil it for some time, for nearly five minutes by partially covering it.
•Lower the heat, cover and cook for nearly fifteen minutes.
•Heat a heavy frying pan on medium heat.
•Add the oil and when it becomes hot add the cumin and mustard seeds.
•When the seeds pop up, add the rest of the spices and the onion.
•Sauté until the onions are brown and soft.
•Add the cooked rice to the spices and onions. Stir quickly and serve hot.
Benefits of Ayurvedic Fried Rice
Rice is known to have amla vipaka (end product after digestion is sour tasted) and hence should be taken moderately. If taken in normal quantities, it is a light diet. Rice is also a great source of complex carbohydrates which provides energy. Moreover, rice contains all the amino acids required for maintaining muscle tissue. The spices make it lighter and hence it is a good appetizer.
