Avadhi Jnana is the direct visual intuition which enables a person to know things or objects even at a distance of time or space.

Avadhi Jnana, Theory of KnowledgeAvadhi Jnana in Jainism is that type of direct cognition, which is limited to the objects having form. It is a sort of clairvoyant knowledge. The self has an inherent capacity to know all things irrespective of time and space, without their coming into contact with sense organs. This faculty differs in scope and durability with different persons in accordance with the destruction and subsidence of karmic veils.

Classification of Avadhi Jnana
Avadhi Jnana or Clairvoyance has two types:
i. Bhava Pratyayah - Souls of Heaven and Hell have this natural capability since birth. Jain Tirthankaras have Bhava Pratyayah Avadhi Jnana from birth but if not maintained, he also has to acquire it. This knowledge is limited in time and space.

ii. Guna Pratyayah - Souls of Human and Animals have to acquire this capability. The clairvoyance that arises from partially eliminating and partially suppressing knowledge - covering karma in a certain way is possible only in animals and humans. Such clairvoyance has 6 sub-types:
1. Anugami
2. Ananugami
3. Vardhamana
4. Hiyamana
5. Avasthita
6. Anavasthita
