According to the Indian Vastu Shastra one must set out for his or her journey at an auspicious time. The constellations are instrumental in suggesting the perfect time for going out.

Hence for traveling in different directions there are different constellations:-
1) For travelling in the East direction the auspicious constellations are Rohini, Adra, Usha, Ashlesha, Krutika, Mrigshrish and Punarvasu
2) Jeshta, Mul, Shravan, Anuradha, Purva, Shadha and Uttarashadha are the apt constellations for traveling in the West.
3) For setting out on a journey in the North direction the auspicious constellations are Uttara, Bhadrapada, Bharani, Ashwini, Dhanishta and others.
4) For travelling in the Southern direction the auspicious constellation are Purva Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra and Vishakha.
