Atin Bandyopadhyay was a prominent writer of Modern Bengali literature. He has authored several compositions encompassing all age groups.

Atin Bandyopadhyay, Bengali AuthorAtin Bandyopadhyay was born in 1934 in Rainadi, Dhaka. He lived in a joint family and studied in Sonar Gaon Panam School. After Bengal Partition he migrated to India. He completed his graduation in commerce in 1956 as well as did a teacher`s training degree, from the University of Calcutta. He did various jobs that included being a sailor, truck-cleaner and primary school teacher. He had permanently in Kolkata in 1963 where he took on jobs like factory manager, publication advisor and a journalist.

His first story was published in the magazine `Abasar` of Berhampore. One of his masterpieces was a three-part trilogy on the Partition: Nilkantha Pakhir Khonje, Aloukik Jalajan and Ishwarer Bagan. He has received many awards like: Smriti Puraskar in 1958 for `Samudra Manush`, Bankim Puraskar(1998) for Dui Bharatbarsha, Bhualka Prize(1993) for Panchajogini, Bibhutibhushan - Smriti Puraskar(1991), Motilal Puraskar, Tarashankar - Smriti Puraskar, Narayan Gangopadhyay and Sudha Puraskars of the University of Calcutta and Sahitya Akademi Award(2001) for Panchashati Galpo

He has written for children that includes: Uronto Torobari, Gini Rohosyo, Binnir Khoi Lal Batasa, Dosti Kishore Uponyas, Paloker Tupi , Neel Timi and Fentur Sada Ghora. His Dosti Kishore Uponyas includes ten stories are: Fentur Sada Ghora, Rajar Bari, Binnir Khoi Lal Batasa, Aronyorajye Mandela, Neel Timi, Uronto Torobari, Hirer, Cheyeo Dami, Ekti joler rekha o Ora teen jon, Gini Rohosyo and Dustu Hititi.
