According to Hindu mythology the deity bestows eight forms of wealth, success, wealth, offspring, bravery, prosperity, food, courage and knowledge.

Construction of Ashtalakshmi Kovil
Ashtalakshmi Kovil was built as per the desires of Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati swamigal of Kanchi Mutt. The sanctorum is constructed on a multi tier complex. The eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi have been preserved in the temple at four levels. Level two house the shrine of Mahalakshmi and Mahavishnu. On the third floor of the temple the idols of Vijaya Lakshmi, Santhana Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi and Vidya Lakshmi have been installed. The shrine of Dhana Lakshmi is enshrined on the fourth floor. The first level houses the idols of Dharya Lakshmi, Aadi Lakshmi and Dhaanya Lakshmi. Apart from this Ashtalakshmi Kovil also houses the idols of Dasavatara i.e. the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Lord Dhanwantari, Guruvayoorapan, Lord Ganesha, and Anjaneyar deities.

In 2012 the temple was repaired and renovated during which 32 kalasams were placed. It included a gold plated kalasam almost 5.5 feet in height. It was laid on the top of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. An important Hindu ceremony, the Jeernotharana Ashtabandana mahakumbhabhishekam was also organised by the temple during that time.
